The Health Ministry Epidemiology Unit informed the people to take precautions to avoid Dengue raising its head once again with the prevailing rainy weather.
It requested the public to clean their home gardens paying special attention to destroy dengue mosquito breeding places.
According to the Epidemiology Unit statistics 831 patients and 11 deaths were reported from Dengue in January. Colombo was the worst affected by Dengue with 297 patients and five deaths last month.
About 109 patients were reported from Gampaha while Puttalam, Jaffna and Kalutara also showed high number of patients from Dengue last month.
It requested public support to control the Dengue and asked the people to be vigilant since there is a high potential to increase dengue cases with the rainy weather.
