On dengue notification: why private doctors are upset

According to the latest Case Definition Update, clinical case definition of Dengue Fever is “Acute onset of high grade fever of usually 2-5 days or more associated with TWO or MORE of the following: headache, retro-orbital pain, myalgia, arthralgia, rash and mild haemorrhagic manifestations (epistaxis, gums bleeding and petechiae)” What??!!
TWO or MORE symptoms in addition to fever? Kah-monn lah! Easily 90% of adult febrile cases complain of headache and myalgia. And kids will say yes to anything you suggest to them. Epistaxis in kids is even more common with or without fever. This is lunacy. Fever+headache+myalgia = Clinically DEFINED Dengue Fever! Never mind the fact that the patient also has clear URTI or UTI or appendicitis or chickenpox for that matter. Just join the dots. A+B+C=Dengue. Leave your brain at home. Do it or else kena jail or fine.
